Dr. Henry F. Schaefer III
Professor Henry F. (Fritz) Schaefer is one of the most distinguished physical scientists in the world. The U.S. News and World Report cover story of December 23, 1991 speculated that Professor Schaefer is a "five time nominee for the Nobel Prize." He has received four of the most prestigious awards of the American Chemical Society, as well as the most highly esteemed award (the Centenary Medal) given to a non-British Society of Chemistry.
In this present book, Dr. Schaefer's university lectures have been expanded to full length essays. Throughout, the book retains the highly personal character of the university lectures, general respect for those with whom the author disagrees, and a delightful sense of humor.
"This is one of those rare books that combines solid substance with understandable style, spiced with humor. I read some books for amusement, others to stretch my mind. This book does both."
Dr. David Fisher
Editor, Newsletter of the American Scientific Affiliation

"It is not often I read a book with which I find so much accord."
Dr. Phillip S. Skell
Evan Pugh Emeritus Professor, Penn State University
Member, U.S. National Academy of Sciences
"Professor Schaefer is one of the most highly cited chemists in the world. His book is the easiest to read of those I recommend on science and Christianity. It is full of interesting quotes and anecdotes and includes the story of how he became a Christian as a professor at Berkeley."
